The Falcon Success Center (FSC) aspires to support every University of Montevallo student as they achieve academic and personal success at UM and beyond.
We offer the following services free of charge:
- student success plans
- academic counseling and coaching
- tutoring in various subjects
- assistance to students as they learn self-advocacy
We also provide guidance for students as they begin to navigate their college experience, leading them to the most helpful campus resources. Great Start Program
The Great Start Program (GSP) is a year-long program dedicated to providing first-year, alternatively admitted students with the tools and support they need to navigate college life with confidence and help them succeed academically. One-on-one academic coaching helps GSP students develop strong study habits, organizational skills, and time management strategies, while workshops and events foster community and belonging.

Learning Enrichment Center
The LEC offers free tutoring to all UM students in a variety of courses, both general education and major-specific courses. Designed to meet the specific needs of students, tutoring is available one-on-one, in small groups, online, or during drop-in hours which requires no appointment. The center is open late to serve a variety of schedules and increase accessibility.

Student Success Coaching
Personalized and individual support assists students in developing effective strategies such as study skills, time management techniques, growth mindset, motivation, and organization necessary to succeed at the college level.
